Abu Dhabi: During the short Eid holiday in the UAE, rain accompanied by thunder and lightning fell in many places yesterday. Several parts of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Al Ain and Al Dhafra received rain on Thursday, the Met Office said.
Al Warsan and International City experienced light rain on Thursday evening and Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Investment Park experienced light showers with thunder and lightning. The Meteorological Center has announced yellow alert for many places in the country. Authorities warned motorists to be cautious.

At the same time, the Department of Meteorology has informed that there is a possibility of rain and strong winds in Qatar during the weekend. Chance of rain is predicted from Thursday, April 11 till the weekend.
According to the advisory, the weather will be partly cloudy with light rain and thundershowers on Thursday. But on Friday, there is a chance of thundery rain and strong winds and the sea will be rough. Rain is likely till noon. Meanwhile, the weather department has not issued any warnings for Saturday. Temperatures will be mild during the day on Saturday.
Northwesterly wind speed of 5-15 kmph may prevail during these three days. It can reach a speed of 25 kmph. Waves can reach two to four feet. The Meteorological Department has predicted waves of 3-6 to 10 feet on Friday and 2-4 to 6 feet on Saturday.
