Indian embassies and consulates abroad, including Arab countries, will soon facilitate renewal of international driving permits. This facility has been introduced for those whose IDP has expired while abroad.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said in a press release that, citizens who are in a foreign country and their international driving permit has expired, such citizens can now apply and apply through the portal of the Indian Embassy / Mission Then the concerned RTOs will move to VAHAN for consideration. ”
The VAHAN portal is a portal launched by the Government of India for services such as vehicle registration, permit issuance and tax filing under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The decision of the renewal of IDPs of Indians living abroad through Indian diplomatic missions has been decided through amendments to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules of 1989.
The applicant must have a valid visa to renew an International Driving Permit. This facility will be available at all Indian missions and embassies in Arab countries.
