Repeated warnings are not heeded; 418 drivers were caught from airports

Riyadh: The Public Transport Authority has taken action against illegal taxis that picked up passengers from airports in Saudi Arabia. In the past few days, the authority has seized 418 cars and their drivers. This number of vehicles were seized through a surveillance campaign conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs. Those who ran illegal taxi services from the airports were caught.

Last day, the Public Transport Authority had announced that the action against this violation of the law would be toughened. It was also warned that there will be a fine of 5,000 Riyals and confiscation of vehicles against those operating illegal taxi services.

The Transport Authority has intensified surveillance against fake taxis with an aim to provide a smooth, safe and comfortable transport experience to passengers and to improve the quality of services at airports. The authority said the seizure of vehicles carrying passengers without a taxi permit is a recent move in collaboration with the General Authority of Civil Aviation.
