Saudi Arabia prosecutes citizen who wrote bounced checks worth 12 million riyals

The Saudi Public Prosecution strongly warned against the danger of all forms of financial fraud and the criminal protection of the commercial check paper.

The investigation procedures resulted in the accused, in bad faith, issuing checks without sufficient funds and in a manner that prevents their cashing, amounting to (22) checks for amounts reaching approximately (12 million Saudi riyals) “twelve million Saudi riyals”, thus defrauding the victims by deluding and deceiving them with the existence of fictitious tenders to invest their money in.

Upon arresting the accused and referring him to the competent court, and presenting evidence of his accusation, a ruling was issued against him convicting him of what was attributed to him, and sentencing him to imprisonment for (5 years), a fine of (300,000 riyals) “three hundred thousand Saudi riyals” and returning those amounts to their owners.

The Public Prosecution strongly warned of the danger of all forms of financial fraud and the criminal protection of commercial check paper, stressing that anyone who commits such acts will face severe criminal penalties, and will be referred immediately to the competent courts; To demand the application of the most severe legal penalties against him.
