Saudi Arabia has supported India’s claim in the United Nations Security Council. It is considered very important from strategic point of view.

Apart from this, Saudi Arabia has supported India’s call for reform of the council. In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry of Saudi Arabia, it has been said that there is a great need for reform in the Security Council. It said that it is necessary to do so if there is credibility in international peace and security without double standards.

Enraged by this

Saudi Arabia said these things after America vetoed the resolution demanding immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Apart from this, he accused America of adopting a double standard in Gaza. It is noteworthy that India has repeatedly demanded the expansion of UNSC and has been challenging the hegemony of the five permanent members. America, Britain, China, Russia and France are the five permanent member countries of UNSC, known as P-5 nations.

India is not a permanent member

India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ruchika Kamboj said that the question is how long will only five countries continue to rule on the wishes of 188 member countries. It is very important to change this. It is noteworthy that despite being the most populous country in the world, India is not yet a permanent member of the Security Council. Recently, India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar had said that we will achieve this, but it is not going to happen so easily.
