The project aims to enhance the Kingdom’s transportation and logistics capabilities and improve its economic competitiveness at the local and international levels, according to the Saudi News Agency (SPA).
The new project network provides a service for transporting products and materials via railway between facilities and ports in Jubail, with access to other areas connected to the railway network in the Kingdom. This contributes to facilitating the movement of goods and reducing road congestion and transportation costs.
The project also aims to support national industries and enhance their competitiveness by providing an efficient and reliable means of transporting goods. It is expected to contribute to raising the rates of rail transport and its integration with other means of transport, which enhances the efficiency and reliability of the logistics sector.
In addition, the project seeks to improve environmental quality by providing safe and environmentally friendly transportation solutions, resulting in a reduction of emissions by more than 70% and the displacement of more than 200,000 trucks in the first phase of operation. This is in line with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy that aims to achieve sustainable development and improve the quality of life in the Kingdom.
