Saudi Cabinet declares the annual Saudi Green Initiative Day on this date

The Saudi Green Initiative was launched on March 27 at a Council of Ministers meeting led by King Salman, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

The Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites was tasked with monitoring a number of initiatives, including the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Center for Cosmic Sciences and Crescent Observations, the Makkah Clock, and the Crescent Observatories.

Minister of Media Salman Al-Dosary, in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency post-session, highlighted the Cabinet’s commendation of the United Nations General Assembly’s resolution on combating Islamophobia. The Cabinet reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s dedication to international endeavors against extremist ideologies and their funding, and advocated for peace, dialogue, and coexistence.

The Cabinet also applauded the results of the worldwide conference, which focused on unity among various Islamic schools of thought and was arranged by the Muslim World League in Makkah. It conveyed appreciation to academics from all across the Muslim world for acknowledging the Kingdom’s endeavors to promote Islamic unity and serve Islam and Muslims.

Furthermore, the Council was briefed on communications received by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman from the president of Uzbekistan and a phone call with the UN Secretary-General regarding current developments, notably the situation in Gaza. Regarding charitable initiatives, the Cabinet underscored the Kingdom’s continuous support for philanthropic endeavors, particularly highlighting the achievements of the Fourth National Campaign for Charitable Work. The session noted the overwhelming response, showcasing solidarity and generosity among benefactors.

The Cabinet celebrated a significant economic milestone, with non-oil activities contributing 50% to the country’s real GDP in 2023, aligning with the objectives of Vision 2030 to diversify resources and bolster the economy. Several agreements and memoranda were approved, including the establishment of the IMF’s regional office in Riyadh, scientific and educational cooperation with Oman, cultural cooperation with Turkey, tourism promotion with South Korea, and cooperation in ensuring the quality of halal products with Indonesia.

In addition, the Saudi Presidency of State Security and the General Directorate of National Security in Tunisia approved a cooperation agreement to combat terrorism-related crimes and finance.
