Sheikh Mohammed announces changes to UAE ministries

Establishing a new Ministry of Foreign Trade, changing the name of the Ministry of Economy, and incorporating artificial intelligence into government decision-making.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced today structural changes to the UAE government. These changes include the establishment of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and the appointment of Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi as its Minister. It was also decided to change the name of the Ministry of Economy to the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, with Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri assuming the portfolio. His Highness stated via his official account on the “X” platform that these changes come after consultation with His Highness the President of the State.

His Highness also announced the adoption of the National Artificial Intelligence System as an advisory member of the Cabinet, the Ministerial Development Council, and all boards of directors of federal entities and government companies, effective January 2026. This step aims to support decision-making, conduct immediate analysis of decisions, provide technical advice, and enhance the efficiency of government policies.

His Highness concluded his remarks by emphasizing that the world is witnessing a comprehensive restructuring on the scientific, economic, and societal levels, and that the goal of these changes is to prepare for the coming decades and ensure continued prosperity and a dignified life for future generations.
