The Sharjah International Award for Advocacy and Support for Refugees (remotely) on the social media platforms of the Big Heart Foundation will celebrate tomorrow, Wednesday, the announcement of the winner of the fourth session, which coincides with the International Humanitarian Day.
The award is sponsored and supported by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, President of the Big Heart Foundation, and a prominent advocate for refugee children at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and its scope was expanded this year to include institutions From different countries of the African continent, with the aim of highlighting the efforts made by Africa to serve and support more than 26% of the 70.8 million refugees worldwide, with its limited infrastructure and resources.
The award, which is supervised and organized by the Big Heart Foundation, the global humanitarian organization concerned with assisting and supporting refugees and needy people around the world, which is based in Sharjah, and in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, aims to honor the owners of distinguished humanitarian initiatives in various countries of Asia and the Middle East. And Africa, with a value of 500,000 dirhams.

Since its launch in 2017, the Sharjah International Award for Refugee Advocacy and Support has been awarded to three organizations, as the Big Heart Foundation has honored it due to its outstanding initiatives in the field of humanitarian work centered on advocating for refugees, supporting them and developing society, within the countries of Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
Amel International, a Lebanese-based non-governmental organization and one of the leading institutions in the field of humanitarian work in the Arab region, won the award in 2019 in honor of its humanitarian initiatives and the integrated support programs that it implemented over a period of six years, through which it was presented One million and 600 thousand services in various fields of health, education, empowerment, psychosocial support and protection, as well as training courses to improve the living conditions of thousands of Syrian and Iraqi refugees and others.
In 2018, the Malaysian “Karama Children” Foundation won the Sharjah International Refugee Advocacy and Support Award at its second session, in appreciation of its role and commitment to caring for thousands of families in Sentul, Malaysia, and providing a safe environment for the education of their children.
While the award went in its first session in 2017 to the Foundation for Sustainable Development in Yemen, in appreciation of its great efforts in supporting the most affected areas, providing basic living needs such as water, food, and shelter, as well as implementing many education projects, community integration, and demining activities.
