In the coming times, foreigners here will not be able to become part of jobs in government and public sector companies of the country. In this regard, the Ministry of Finance of Oman has issued an order last week.

There is bad news for the people of other countries including Indians living in Oman . In the coming times, foreigners here will not be able to become a part of jobs in government and public sector companies of the country.

In this regard, the Ministry of Finance of Oman has issued an order last week. In this order, it has been asked to start the process of replacing foreigners in government sector jobs. It means to say that now foreigners will be replaced by local citizens in jobs.

However, the order issued will not come into force with immediate effect. It may take at least a year for the government to take action on the ground in this regard. According to information received by WION, Oman’s government companies will propose during next year’s budget how they will replace foreigners with local citizens.

In fact, the government’s omisation policy is about 30 years old and the purpose of which is to provide jobs to the local people. Whereas the government provides employment to the young population through the Sons of Soil policy.

In such a situation, the question is now arising that how many Indians will be affected by this move of the Omani government? According to a source, “Most of the Indian workers are blue-collar workers who are working in the construction sector, where this rule will not apply.”

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, there are 7 lakh 70 thousand Indians in Oman, out of which 6 lakh 55 thousand are laborers. The Oman government had put the figure of Indian workers at 617,730 at the end of the year 2019.

On the other hand, Oman is taking special care of the Indian community during the crisis of the global pandemic Corona virus. Speaking to WION last week, Indian envoy to Oman Munu Mahawar said, ‘I want to thank the Government of Oman for the way the Indian community is being looked after

The government of Oman is also providing food in the areas prohibited in lockdown along with free testing and treatment.
