Riyadh: The license fee for operating permanent and temporary cinemas in Saudi Arabia has been reduced. The decision in this regard was approved by the Film Commission Board of Directors.
This is to encourage the private sector to reduce ticket prices and provide attractive promotions to the public. It is estimated that this will help in the opening of many cinemas in the country, expansion of the current screens and wider screening of Saudi films.
Mean while, movie ticket prices in Saudi Arabia are expected to drop significantly following the Film Commission’s decision to cut licensing fees for operating cinemas. Amir Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Film Commission and Minister of Culture, tweeted on his ‘X’ account that the decision to reduce the license fee for operating cinemas is an important step to strengthen the cinema sector. The minister also said that this will contribute to improving the economic activity of the film sector.

Commission CEO Ng said that the Film Commission is working to stimulate the film industry by encouraging private sector companies that operate cinemas in Saudi Arabia. Abdullah Al Qahtani said. The commission offers discounts and promotions to moviegoers with an aim to boost film culture in the country.
It is working to increase the presence of Saudi films by stimulating the screening of Saudi films in various theaters. The rates of cinema licenses and ticket fees have been reduced in line with the international average. Al Qahtani also said that film companies should be supported in the sustainability and growth of this sector.
