Those who do not have documents including passport and visa can return home without any action

The Malaysian government has announced an amnesty for foreigners living in Malaysia without valid documents to return to their home country, the Indian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur said.

Malayalis who are living in Malaysia without a valid passport, visa or other official documents and who are trapped in employment fraud can take advantage of this opportunity to return home.

The amnesty currently applies only to residents of West Malaysia and the Labuan Federal Territory. The term for this is till 31st December 2024. Applications for amnesty are currently being accepted at thirteen Immigration Enforcement Offices in various states in Malaysia. Applicants can submit application in person at Enforcement Offices (8 AM to 5 PM) along with relevant documents without making prior appointments.

The penalty ranges from 300 to 500 Malaysian Ringgit. Payment can be made using credit, debit cards or e-wallet. After paying the penalty, you can leave the country with a special repatriation pass without arrest or other penalties. It has also been informed that persons in need of urgent treatment will get a priority letter if they apply to the Indian High Commission to facilitate registration.
