Thunderstorm damages minor structures in Taj Mahal

The 124 kmph velocity storm-ravaged numerous structures inside Agra city, and triggered vast damage to greenery in the monument’s complex.

The strong winds with heavy rains left a trail of havoc in the city of Agra on Friday evening. Some small structures in the Taj Mahal were also destroyed.

According to reliable sources, in the 17th-century monument of love, a part of the iron scaffolding that was being used for the mud pack treatment was destroyed.

Overlooking the Yamuna river, a red sandstone “jaalidaar” wall has also been damaged.

The stone supporting the arch was loosened at the main western gate entrance but was later restored on Saturday. Viewers gallery at the eastern gate also suffered some damage, especially the artificial ceiling in the security area.
