Two outlets were fined by the Ras Al Khaimah Municipality for flouting rules blatantly and turning two caravans into storehouses.

Shaimaa Al Tunaiji, director of public health department, RAK Municipality, said that an Emirati national alerted them about the two erring shops – an outlet selling fruits and vegetables, and a grocery shop.

“Acting on the tip-off, the civic body swung into action and a team of inspectors was dispatched to the reported site.”

It was found that the shopkeepers of the two outlets had breached the prescribed rules with impunity, she added.

“They had turned two caravans into storehouses to stock their fruits, vegetables, and grocery stuff in violation of food storage and public health rules.”

All the fruits, vegetables and grocery stuff found were confiscated, she pointed out. “The shopkeepers were ordered to pay a hefty fine.”

Al Tunaiji said that the municipality inspectors keep a constant watch on all outlets and markets in the emirate round the clock. “We shall deal with zero tolerance against violators posing risk to public health.”
