UAE: Delivery riders not allowed on fast lanes as Ajman announces traffic rule

0

Delivery riders must adhere to the right lanes of the road in Ajman, authorities announced on Thursday. They are not permitted to use the fast, left-most lanes. These restrictions are already in place in two other emirates, namely Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

On a three-lane road, delivery bikes can not use the left-most lane, and must stick to the two right lanes. On a four-lane road, Ajman’s delivery riders must not drive on the two left-most lanes.

In 2023, Abu Dhabi announced that delivery bike riders will be allowed to use only the right lane on roads with speed limits of 100 km/h and above. They are not permitted to use the two left-most lanes.

This means if the motorcyclists are on 3- and 4-lane roads of over 100kmph in Abu Dhabi, they can ride only on the two tracks from the right side. If they are on a 5-lane road, they can use the three rightmost tracks.

Dubai has had these restrictions in place since 2021. In addition to not permitting delivery riders to use the left lane, it also set a speed limit of 100kmph for these motorists.

Violations could lead to fines of up to Dh700, with a third time repetition of the violation leading to permit suspension, as Khaleej Times earlier reported.
