As part of the UAE’s celebrations of the 53rd National Day, the deadline for settling the status of violators has been extended until the end of this year.
The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship announced Nationality, Customs and Port Security In the UAE, the deadline for correcting the status of violators has been extended for two months, so that the extension period ends on December 31, 2024.
The initiative comes within the framework of the Union Day celebrations.
Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the Authority, pointed out that this decision coincides with the country’s celebrations of the 53rd Union Day and reflects the humanitarian and civilized values of the UAE. It comes in response to appeals from violators who wish to settle their status either by leaving the country or obtaining an employment contract and amending their residency.
The decision was also taken based on customer pulse studies conducted by the work teams regarding the volume of demand at service centers in the final days of the original deadline, which was scheduled to end on October 31, 2024.
Last chance for the offender
Al Khaili stressed that extending the deadline represents the last chance for violators to settle their status with exemption from fines and without being subject to the stamp of being banned from entering the country, which reflects the humanitarian aspect of the initiative and the Authority’s keenness to give violators an additional opportunity to overcome challenges and obtain their rights.
Heavy turnout
He stated that the deadline witnessed a large turnout to settle the situation, noting that the Authority and its partners from government and private agencies worked to overcome obstacles and provide solutions to the challenges faced by some categories of violators, in accordance with the legal powers available to them.
He stressed that the extension period is the last chance, and fines will be re-imposed on violators who continue to violate after the expiry of this period. The Authority will also intensify inspection campaigns in cooperation with government agencies to arrest violators and take the necessary legal measures against them when the extension period ends.
