Authorities have implemented reduced speed limits on various roads across the Emirates in response to alerts about diminished visibility due to thick fog.
Residents in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi woke up to dense fog enveloping their surroundings, prompting the National Centre of Meteorology to issue red and yellow alerts across certain areas of the UAE.
To make sure everyone stays safe on the roadways, the authorities used X to emphasize the areas most prone to bad weather. Some of the roads in Dubai that drivers faced fog on were Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Road, Al Minhad, Jebel Ali, Al Faqa, and Expo. The limited visibility that homeowners were warned about would continue until 9 a.m. today, according to the notice.

In response to the foggy conditions, Abu Dhabi Police issued cautionary advisories to drivers, urging them to exercise vigilance due to limited visibility on the roads. Motorists were instructed to adhere to fluctuating speed limits, which are prominently displayed on electronic information boards. Additionally, authorities enforced a reduction in speed limits to 80 km/hr on select roads within the emirate, including Sweihan Road (Sweihan-AAl Faya Bridge), Al Taff Road (Sweihan-AAl Ajban), Mohammed Bin Rashid Road (Kizad-SSeih Shuaib), and Maktoum Bin Rashid Road (Al Smeeh-SSeih Shuaib).
In conjunction with the fog alerts, the National Centre of Meteorology also issued a yellow alert for anticipated light to moderate rains in southern areas of the country. In response, Abu Dhabi Police reiterated calls for drivers to exercise caution, particularly in light of rainy weather conditions. They emphasized the importance of adhering to variable speed limits displayed on signage and electronic boards.
According to forecasts by the National Centre of Meteorology, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy overall, with intermittent medium clouds forecasted over certain areas, accompanied by a likelihood of light rainfall southward. Additionally, temperatures are expected to rise, with light to moderate winds prevailing and occasionally freshening. Sea conditions are forecast to be slight in the Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate in the Oman Sea.
Temperatures are expected to range from a low of 11 oC in mountainous regions to a high of 35 oC in internal areas of the country.
