The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) made the influenza vaccination mandatory for all Umrah and Hajj pilgrims.

MOHAP has declared that beginning March 26, travelers to Saudi Arabia will be required to provide proof of influenza vaccination.

This choice was made to safeguard the health and safety of pilgrims, Haj performers, their families, and other parts of society against contagious diseases.

The Ministry advises travelers to get vaccinated at least ten days before their trip to ensure their effectiveness and give adequate immunity.

Furthermore, those with chronic diseases have been advised to contact a physician to confirm their health stability and fitness for Hajj and Umrah, as well as bring an adequate quantity of drugs.

As to the Ministry, anyone who have received the influenza vaccine within the last year are free from getting a fresh one. Vaccination certificates can be obtained via the Al Hosn app and shown at travel checkpoints.

Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary of the Public Health Sector, emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring the health and safety of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, particularly those with chronic illnesses, the elderly, pregnant women, and nursing mothers.
