UAE tells people to not ignore or delay vaccinations as per National Immunization Program

Ministry urged the community members to abide by vaccination schedule.

On the occasion of the World Immunization Week which takes place in the last week of April (24 – 30 April) under the theme “vaccines work for all”, the Ministry of Health and Prevention, MoHAP, underlined the importance of being adhered to the vaccination schedules in accordance with the National Immunization Program and the booster doses for the health and safety of everyone.

Given its importance in preventing diseases, the ministry urged the community members to not delay or ignore the vaccinations, pointing out vaccines are provided at MoHAP’s Health Care Centers in accordance with the highest levels of safety.

MoHAP affirmed that all the precautionary measures have been taken to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus (Covid-19), stressing that the health and safety of people is a top priority and that vaccinations are extremely important to protect the individuals from contagious diseases.

His Excellency Dr. Hussein Abdel Rahman Al-Rand, Undersecretary of the Ministry’s Health Assistant Sector, Health Centers and Clinics, and Chairman of the National Committee for the Implementation of the Provisions of International Health Regulations and Prevention of Pandemics, said: “MoHAP is keen to continue the provision of vaccines to enhance community immunity, immunize society against infectious diseases and encourage parents to visit primary health care centers to maintain their health and the health of their children and avoid diseases, by ensuring the safety of vaccines for children and adults .”

While Dr. Nada Al Marzouqi, Director of MoHAP’s Preventive Medicine Department, said that the National Immunization Program one of the most important basic health services to prevent infectious diseases, adding: “The parents have to contact the health center to book an appointment to get their children vaccinated, while following the preventive measures, such as maintaining clean hands and washing them with soap and water for a period of not less than 20 seconds, or using hand sanitizers and being committed to the social distancing and keeping at least one to two meters.”

Al Marzouqi also highlighted the importance of not touching the eyes, nose, and mouth, except after washing hands, stressing that all family members should abide by the vaccination schedules, especially those who most vulnerable to infections and diseases, such as the elderly, children under the age of five, patients with chronic diseases, and pregnant women.
