Weather in Saudi Arabia: Heavy rain in Jazan and thunderstorms expected in 7 governorates

The National Center of Meteorology in Saudi Arabia warned, Thursday morning, heavy rainIn Jazan region, according to the Saudi Press Agency”SPA”.

The center said in an alert that the heavy rains expected in Jazan are also expected to be accompanied by strong winds, in addition to a lack of horizontal visibility.

The center indicated that hail is also expected, coinciding with the flow of torrents, and thunderstorms in several governorates, namely Al-Harth, Al-Dayer, Al-Raith, Al-Aridah, Al-Eidabi, Fifa, and Harub, in addition to light rain falling on the Farasan Islands Governorate.

The center warned of dust storms, which cause a decrease in visibility, in conjunction with high waves and thunderstorms in the city of Jizan and the governorates of Ad-Darb, Beesh, Abu Arish, Ahad Al-Masarihah, At-Tuwal, Sabya, Samtah, Dammad and Al-Fatihah Center. The center expected this condition to continue until 11 pm on Thursday.

The National Center of Meteorology said in its report that there is still a chance for thunderstorms accompanied by hail showers, along with active winds that stir up dust in areas of Makkah.
As for Madinah, Riyadh, and Najran, the effect of active winds that stir up dust and dirt continues, limiting horizontal visibility.

According to the report, the surface wind movement on the Red Sea will be northwesterly to southwesterly, with speeds ranging between 12-32 km/h in the northern and central parts, while its speed will reach about 50 km/h in the southern part.

The center indicated that the wave height is expected to range from half a meter to one and a half meters in the northern and central parts, and is expected to reach more than two meters in the southern part.

The center warned of dust storms in the governorates of Al-Lith and Al-Qunfudhah, which are expected to lead to a lack of horizontal visibility.
