You will soon be able to fly directly to one of the biggest tourism projects in the world outside of Dubai: the Red Sea.
From Thursday April 18, there will be a twice-weekly service between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Red Sea International Airport (RSI).
It is the first time international flights will travel to and from Dubai with the airport only operating within the borders of Saudi Arabia until now.
The launch of the service from Dubai, operated by fly dubai, means there are now eight flights per week to RSI.
Two luxury resorts are already open at the huge multibillion-dirham Saudi Arabian megaproject.
Six Senses Southern Dunes, The Red Sea is home to 40 villas, a 36-key hotel complex, a spa, a large pool and several high-quality restaurants.
And the area is also home to St. Regis Red Sea Resort which recently welcomed the legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and his family.
Three more resorts are on track to open this year at the Red Sea Project including Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, in the coming weeks. Shebara and Desert Rock will also be open later in 2024.
Red Sea International Airport plans on serving one million guests every year once it is at full capacity.
Upon full completion in 2030, The Red Sea will comprise 50 resorts, offering up to 8,000 hotel rooms and more than 1,000 residential properties across 22 islands and six inland sites.
The destination also includes luxury marinas, golf courses, entertainment, F&B, and leisure facilities.
The Red Sea destination is powered off-grid with 5 solar farms containing 760,000 panels, and one of the world’s largest battery storage facilities already built and operational.
