According to statistics obtained by Arabian Business, Saudi Arabia, with three banks, tops the list of the 10 largest Arab banks in terms of assets, followed by the UAE with three banks, then Kuwait with two banks, and Qatar with one bank.

The total assets of these banks amounted to approximately $2 trillion by the end of the first quarter of 2024, accounting for 60% of the total combined assets of the Gulf banking sector.

The combined assets of the Gulf banking sector amounted to approximately $3.3 trillion at the end of 2023, constituting 73% of the total assets of the Arab banking sector. The volume of combined deposits amounted to approximately $1.94 trillion, which represents 70% of the total deposits in the Arab banking sector.

The volume of loans and debts for the Gulf banking sector reached the same number, which reflects the strength and stability of the sector.

As for capital accounts, they amounted to about $423 billion for the Gulf banking sector, representing about 81% of the total capital accounts in the Arab banking sector.

Regarding Gulf Islamic banks, the data indicate a large concentration of their assets in the six Arab Gulf countries, reaching approximately $905 billion at the end of 2023 from the assets of the fifty largest Arab Islamic banks, constituting 94% of the total.
