The UAE reported 932 new cases of Covid-19 on Monday, after conducting an additional 87,669 tests.

The new cases brought the country’s total to 99,733 since the first infections were detected in late January.

And 1,287 patients were cleared of Covid-19, adding to 89,410 total recoveries.

The number of active cases is 9,894. The country has carried out more than 10.2 million coronavirus tests since the outbreak began as part of an early detection strategy aimed at preventing further infections.

In response to climbing daily figures, authorities launched a campaign to ensure safety measures were being implemented in public places and at home.

Emiratis and residents are being implored to practice social distancing and continue to wear face masks.

Authorities said seven taskforces were formed across the country to conduct inspections at businesses to ensure 46 safety protocols were being implemented.

On Monday, four businesses in Dubai were hit with fines while two others were issued warnings for breaching regulations.

Inspections in Naif, Al Dhagaya and Ayal Nasir found some staff members displayed a “lack of commitment to wearing masks”.

Inspectors visited retail, textile and perfume shops and found 733 stores to be in full compliance with rules.
