Dubai Municipality published, in its official account on the “X“ Announcing the ban on single-use bags in the emirate, starting from 1June.
The municipality stated this by saying: “Starting from June 1, 2024, Dubai bans single-use bags… Let us contribute together to adopting sustainable behavior through the use of cloth bags in order to preserve a more sustainable environment for us and our future generations.”

It is noteworthy that the ban on plastic bags is part of an initiative “Dubai is more sustainable ”Which succeeded in avoiding the use of single-use plastic water bottles with a capacity of 500 ml by about 18 million bottles within just two years of its launch. During the initiative, in cooperation with partners and sponsors, 50 free drinking water stations were installed in a number of important locations throughout the emirate, including parks, tourist attractions, and famous destinations and landmarks. These stations provided about 9 million liters of water.
