Dubai: Flood like situation after storm and heavy rain in Dubai

Flood-like situations have arisen after heavy rains in Dubai, Qatar and Oman. The situation has become such that from the road to the airport are submerged. Dubai Airport, one of the busiest in the world, had to be closed. Many planes had to be diverted to other airports.

Heavy rains created a flood-like situation in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday. Flood-like conditions have arisen after heavy rains in cities like Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain. Many major highways and airports were flooded. Due to which the movement of planes was also affected. Meanwhile, UAE’s neighbor Oman also suffered floods due to heavy rains. 18 people died due to the flood while many people are reported missing.

It is being told that it has been raining with strong winds since Monday and Tuesday night. Flights remained disrupted at Dubai International Airport. Dubai Airport is counted as one of the busiest airports in the world. More than 120 mm (4.75 inches) of rain was recorded in the United Arab Emirates through Tuesday. The roads of the cities appeared to be filled with water.

Schools have been closed due to heavy rain and storm. Most government offices also remained closed. Many vehicles were also seen stranded due to water logging on the roads. Water also entered the houses of some people, due to which they had to face problems. In view of the bad weather, Dubai Police had issued a public safety advisory cautioning people.

It will continue to rain till Wednesday morning

According to the advisory of the Meteorological Department, the situation of rain and storm may continue till Wednesday morning. The Meteorological Department has appealed to people not to leave their homes unnecessarily. Due to rain, along with the airport, many malls, metro stations and other public places are seen completely submerged.

There was heavy rain last year also

Let us tell you that due to rain and storm last year, the situation in Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia is very bad. According to the information, due to water logging at Dubai Airport, the movement of planes was completely stopped. About 45 flights were canceled while 3 flights were diverted to other airports.
