The travel sector in the UAE is witnessing noticeable shifts in traveler preferences as Eid Al Adha and summer vacations approach.

The travel sector in the UAE is witnessing remarkable transformations with the approaching Eid Al Adha holiday and the summer holiday season.

Data issued by the electronic travel agency “Almosafer” indicate a noticeable increase in travel inquiries by 20% compared to last year, which reflects the recovery in demand after the Covid-19 pandemic.

The data shows significant increases in interest in various regions, including the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) by 30%, East Asia by 25%, Europe by 40%, and Africa by 5%.

Travelers appear to be looking for a mix of short holidays and extended trips, with a preference for destinations with relaxed and affordable visa requirements.

The Eid Al Adha holiday witnesses a diversity of travel preferences, as 45% of travelers prefer short trips lasting from 4 to 5 days, while 35% choose long trips lasting from 7 to 10 days.

Destinations such as Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan stand out as popular short-break options, while Kenya, Turkey, Bali and Thailand attract lovers of adventure and relaxation.

As for summer vacations, travelers prefer destinations that do not require a visa or require an e-visa or visa on arrival, such as Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand.

European destinations such as the UK, Paris and Switzerland remain very popular. As temperatures rise in summer, travelers are moving towards more moderate destinations such as Abha in Saudi Arabia and Salalah in Oman, in addition to European destinations, especially Schengen countries.

Emerging destinations such as Latvia, Slovenia and Eastern Europe are seeing increasing interest.

The United States is emerging as a favorite summer vacation destination, with travelers looking forward to diverse experiences in cities such as Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago and New York.

Data indicates a 10% increase in demand from Emirati travelers planning a trip to the United States.
