Turkey’s defense minister once again reiterated that his country is working on a plan to use the missile defense system purchased from Russia, despite continued opposition from the US.

Defense Minister Hulusi Akar told the Parliamentary Budget Commission on Thursday that the army is preparing to deploy the S-400 missile system as planned. Washington, NATO member Turkey is against the purchase of Russia’s anti-aircraft system and has expelled Turkey from its F-35 combat aircraft.

The United States believes that the S-400 system is intended for firefighting aircraft capable of evading radar and is not compatible with NATO systems. Turkish news agency Anadolu quoted Akar as saying that Turkey is ready to deploy the S-400 and speak on the US concern over the issue of F-35 combat aircraft.
