Ramachandran gave a statement to the media, according to which, after the business was over, he got a job in a shop at Dheera in Naif district for a salary of two and a half thousand dirhams. He continues to struggle as both his wife and daughter are ill. Kumar told the media, “His daughter has heart disease and his wife has cancer.

He told that he was living in the UAE for the treatment of his wife. ; But in the meantime he suffered a stroke. He remained in hospital for 5 months after stroke, where his bill reached 16 lakh dirhams. ” The consulate then gave him a flight ticket and a wheelchair to come to India.

According to the Indian embassy, Ramachandran was eventually brought back to his hometown in Kasargod district in Kerala due to the intervention of volunteers from the embassy and mission’s medical team. He is now admitted to a large hospital in Mangalore, Karnataka.
