Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine enhances the skills of high school students

Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences has made great strides to attract talented high school students to study medicine and health sciences, and enhance their knowledge about this field, through its pivotal role in the “Readiness” program launched by the Ministry of Education in the UAE, to help students move from High school to university, in cooperation with a group of research-active universities in the country.
The program aims to provide government and private high school students with basic skills in research, pioneering leadership, and diplomacy, as well as enhancing personal skills and providing students with a set of academic tools that will positively influence their applications to universities. This year, the program was conducted remotely for a period of four weeks during the school summer vacation.

As part of its commitment to developing high-quality educational and learning experiences, in line with the goal of the “Ready” program, which is to empower high school students by providing unique experiences, encouraging innovation, and promoting community participation, the university’s faculty held a series of sessions under the title: “The System Program Academic health at the Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine ».
The Readiness Program includes four sub-programs developed by the participating universities, namely, Empowerment for Research, Enabling Enrichment, Enabling Entrepreneurship, and Enabling for Diplomacy. The Academic Health System Program at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences focused on the first two subprogrammes (Empowerment for Research and Enabling Enrichment), with the aim of broadening students’ perceptions of scientific research and other scientific fields.
The program, which lasted for two weeks, targeted 20 high school students with a passion for learning. The percentage of Emirati students participating in the program was 80%, while the participation rate of outstanding non-Emirati students reached 20%.
The program provided students with an overview of the methodology of scientific research, innovation, organ transplantation and genetic engineering, in addition to a virtual tour of the university’s facilities that included the Al Maktoum Medical Library and the Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Medical Simulation Center.

The university program received the approval of the participating students, through a questionnaire distributed at the end of the program, where the participants praised the diversity of the topics that were presented and the lively discussions that took place, with the faculty members and a group of inspiring guests.
