New updates to regulate flexible work in Saudi Arabia

Flexible work organization aims to provide job opportunities for job seekers, and provide jobs for those wishing to increase their income through a flexible contractual system based on hourly wages.

Announce Minister of Human Resources And Social Development, Engineer Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, announced a new decision aimed at amending the organization Flexible working.

The ministerial decision includes amending Article Twenty-Seven of the Executive Regulations of the Labor Law, with the aim of developing an organization Flexible working. This amendment comes within the framework of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to review labor market regulations, support the stability and growth of establishments, preserve workers’ rights, and increase the attractiveness and flexibility of the labor market.

Flexible work organization provides attractive advantages for establishments and individuals, including increasing the readiness of job seekers to enter the labor market and enabling them to practice the required professional skills, in addition to reducing recruitment costs. More than 35,000 workers have benefited from this system since its launch.

The Ministry announced that the new amendments included Clause (Second) of (Article Twenty-Seven), and the most prominent of these amendments is raising the number of working hours for a flexible worker to 160 hours per month in one establishment. The amendments also included calculating a full point for the establishment in Nitaqat upon completion of a total of 160 flexible work hours, whether for a single worker or a group of workers.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development explained that organizing flexible work aims to create job opportunities for job seekers, and provide jobs for those wishing to increase their income through a flexible contractual system based on hourly wages. The Ministry also stressed the importance of preserving the rights of both parties and increasing security and credibility by launching the flexible work platform that allows employment contracts to be documented electronically.
