Oman boosts its LNG exports with two new agreements with Shell and JERA

The Sultanate of Oman is the third largest liquefied natural gas producing country in the Middle East, and enjoys a strategic location that enables it to export gas to various parts of the world.

The state-owned Oman LNG Company signed two new agreements to supply liquefied natural gas, one with Shell Trading Company (Middle East) and the other with the Japanese company “Jera”, according to a statement carried by the Oman News Agency.

The first agreement stipulates the supply of 0.8 million metric tons annually of liquefied natural gas to the Japanese company “Jera”, starting in 2025 and for a period of 10 years.

While the second agreement stipulates the supply of 1.6 million metric tons annually of liquefied natural gas to Shell starting in 2025 and for a period of 10 years. This is the second agreement between the two parties within one year, as a previous agreement was amended in October 2023 to increase the amount of gas supplied.

The Sultanate of Oman is considered one of the largest exporters of liquefied natural gas in the world. The country enjoys a strategic location at the crossroads of global trade, which facilitates the process of exporting gas to various parts of the world. It also possesses huge reserves of natural gas, which allows it to meet increasing demand in the long term.
