Abu Dhabi: Heavy rain in UAE. Abu Dhabi and Dubai received heavy rain this morning. A strong wind blew along with the rain.

At three o’clock in the morning there was thunder and lightning. The National Meteorological Center has issued an orange alert in the country due to heavy rains. Heavy rain was first reported in Al Dhafra and Al Sila areas. The announcement is that there is a possibility of unstable weather till 8 pm tonight.

It was earlier announced that there is a chance of rain on May 2 and 3. Following this, cautionary instructions were also given. Schools in Sharjah and Dubai introduced distance learning. Parks and beaches are closed. Companies have been advised to consider allowing employees to work from home.

Meanwhile, heavy rain has been warned in Oman today. The Civil Aviation Authority has warned that heavy rain, wind and hail are likely on Thursday, May 2. According to the notification, there will be 20-80 mm of rain. Following this, the Civil Aviation Authority has issued a warning to the public.

Officials warn that heavy rain, wind and hail are likely to occur in Al Buraimi, North Al Bathinah, South Al Bathinah, Muscat, Al Dakhiliya, North Al Sharqiya and Dhofar governorates until Thursday night. It is also reported that there will be rain in different intensities in Musandam, Al Wusta and South Al Sharqia governorates. Wind gusts of 28 to 90 kilometers per hour are also forecast.
