According to the rules, Saudi Arabia has taken a big decision regarding Iftar. Under this, Iftar inside mosques has been banned. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is considered the holiest month of Islam. This year Ramadan is starting from 10th March and will end on 9th April.

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from morning to evening. After fasting throughout the day, the fast is broken in the evening after sunset, which is called Iftar. During this time many people organize Iftar in mosques. However, Saudi Arabia has now banned iftar in mosques during Ramadan.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs gave these instructions in the notice

The reason given for this restriction is the cleanliness of mosques. In a notice issued by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs on 20 February 2024, it was said that the Government of Saudi Arabia emphasizes that the Iftar program should not be organized inside mosques keeping in mind the cleanliness of mosques.

“The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has issued several instructions regarding mosques during the month of Ramadan,” said a notice issued on social media site It was said in the tweet that the Imams and Muezzins of the mosques should take care of the arrangements for Iftar at a suitable place outside the mosques.

Responsibility of Imam and Muezzin decided

It was also said that no temporary room or tent should be set up for Iftar. The notice further said, ‘Iftar is the responsibility of the Imam and Muezzin. They also have the responsibility that whoever breaks the rule of not having iftar in the mosque, should get the mosque cleaned as soon as the meal is over.
