Saudi minister said that Makkah’s Masjid al-Haram is the most visited place in the world

RIYADH: Hajj-Umrah Minister Dr. Confirmed by Tawfiq Bin Fawzan Al Rabi’ah. The minister also pointed out that the number of pilgrims who have visited Masjid Dunna Bavi, known as the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, in the last two years has exceeded 19 million.

He was speaking at the first ‘Umra Forum’ which started yesterday in Madinah. The forum also discussed the challenges in the field of Umrah and how to improve services for pilgrims visiting both the Harams. The first edition of the forum is currently underway from April 22 to 24.

The event will feature dialogue sessions, workshops and road shows on the latest services offered to pilgrims and innovative reforms to be implemented. Addressing the event, the minister explained that 28 government agencies and more than 3,000 local and international companies are participating in the activities of the forum.

The minister pointed out that he has visited 24 countries around the world and that Saudi efforts to overcome the challenges faced by pilgrims and visitors are also going on outside the country. It has already been possible to eliminate the difficulties faced by pilgrims and to convince other countries of the facilities provided by Saudi Arabia for pilgrims.

The Hajj-Umrah Minister stated that the Ministry of Hajj-Umrah will be vigilant and attentive to ensure that no systems fail to affect the journey of the pilgrims to Mecca and Medina and their worship activities. The General Authority for Statistics had earlier stated that the total number of pilgrims who visited Hajj last year was 18,45,045. Out of this, 16,60,915 people came from foreign countries and 1,84,130 people were domestic pilgrims. Among the pilgrims who came from abroad, 9,69,694 were men and 8,75,351 were women. Pilgrims came from 150 countries last year.
