Saudi tourist spending in Egypt exceeds 1000 riyals per day

Egypt.. Attractive tourist attractions

The Egyptian official said that his country recorded record numbers in the first half of 2024 with about 7 million tourists and a total of 70 million tourist nights.

Hossam Hazaa, a member of the Egyptian Federation of Tourism Chambers, added that despite the geopolitical circumstances, Egypt has many attractive tourist attractions, at a time when the country is working to support investment in the tourism and hotel sector.

Earlier, Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities revealed that the country attracted a record 7.069 million tourists between January and June 2024, compared to about 7.062 million tourists in the same period last year.

This number exceeds the number of tourists recorded in the peak year of 2010, which amounted to 6.9 million tourists, according to an official report on incoming tourism.

Record number of tourist nights

According to the report, tourist nights also reached unprecedented levels, totaling 70.2 million nights, up from 67.6 million nights recorded in 2023 and about 65.7 million nights in 2010.

Egypt’s tourism revenues in the first half of 2024 amounted to about $6.6 billion, compared to about $6.3 billion in 2023, and about $5.6 billion in 2010, according to the report.

This growth is due to the successful implementation of Egypt’s National Tourism Strategy, which focuses on expanding the capacity of the tourism sector, including increasing the number of incoming airline seats and hotel rooms to accommodate more tourists and enhance their experience. The strategy aims to attract 30 million tourists by 2028.

The year 2023 was a milestone in the history of tourism in Egypt, as it recorded the largest number of incoming tourists, reaching 14.906 million tourists, exceeding the previous peak of 14.731 million tourists in 2010.
