The mourning period in the country is set to begin from today when flags on public buildings will be lowered to half-mast.
Spain’s official mourning period of 10 days for coronavirus victims has begun. The pandemic has so far claimed more than 27,000 lives in the country, the government said on Tuesday.
PM of Spain in this tweet said that “the longest mourning period of 10 days ever held by the country is to express the grief and pay homage to the victims.”
Speaking of the other affected countries, China where the virus emerged held a national mourning day on April 4, Italy on the other hand mourned the victims on March 31.
The United States lowered its flags to half-mast early this week for three days to remember the covid-19 victims. So far the highest number of deaths have been reported in the US which stands more than 98,200.
