People with visit visas in the UAE, whose visas have expired, were given a 30-day grace period from August 11 to September 11, leaving the country without any penalty. But those who have not been able to get out of the country during the grace period nor have their visas renewed, tell them that the grace period has expired and now they have started imposing over-stay fines. The grace period was announced on 10th August itself.

An Amer call centre agent said there is a Dh200 penalty for overstay for the first day. The penalty will be indicated by immigration officers at airports. The penalty is Dh200 for the first day, Dh100 for each day, and Dh100 as service fee. ”

The GDRFA and the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) had already announced that, if the visa has not been renewed, or if the person does not exit the country, the over-stay penalty will be imposed. Over stay penalty applies something like this. Dh200 for the first day, followed by a Dh100 penalty for each day. In Dubai, the fee being levied for a three-month visa renewal is Dh1,834. The application fee is Dh1,276 and the cost of changing the status is Dh558.

However, travel agents say, we did not have a single last minute applicant. Earlier, about 5,000 to 6,000 new applications were made between 8th and 9th August. Travel agents had about 595 applications this month. It can be guessed that people have taken full advantage of the grace period given.
