Riyadh: Saudi Arabia and China have signed a new chapter in cultural cooperation. A number of agreements have been signed to develop cultural partnerships. Saudi Culture Minister Amir Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan and Chinese Culture and Tourism Minister Sun Yali signed the agreements during their visit to Beijing to strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.

Collaborations include museums, cultural heritage, theatre, performing arts, visual arts, architecture and design, libraries and traditional crafts. Also exchange experiences in joint projects in various cultural fields and exchange regulations and policies related to cultural aspect.

The agreement is to facilitate necessary procedures for exchange of participation in festivals and cultural events between the two countries, to activate artistic residency programs between government and private institutions of both countries, to exchange experiences in projects related to heritage conservation of all kinds, and to organize cultural activities and events in both countries.

This understanding is part of the Ministry of Culture’s interest in promoting international cultural exchange, one of the goals of ‘Vision 2030’. It is based on the existing bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields. The Saudi Minister of Culture arrived in Beijing last day to strengthen cultural ties and enhance existing cultural cooperation between the Saudi cultural system and several Chinese cultural organizations.
