Self-driving air taxis are in service during the Hajj season for the first time

The air taxi experiment was launched at the initiative of the transportation and logistics system, with the adoption of future transportation technologies and new environmentally friendly models that use artificial intelligence applications.

This new step comes within the framework of reviewing the future of transportation and its development, as this experiment was launched in the presence of the Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, and senior officials in the air and logistics sector.

The Minister of Transport and Logistics Services stressed the importance of this step, as part of the initiatives and projects of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services that work to employ modern and advanced technologies, whether air taxi technologies, electric cars, or hydrogen trains.

Noting that the Ministry is working to enhance the areas of smart mobility and develop legislation, laws and regulations that enable the employment of modern technologies and the adoption of new and innovative environmentally friendly transportation models that rely on artificial intelligence applications, in addition to providing experimental environments to work on expanding the introduction of various future transportation technologies within the framework of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. To develop the transportation and logistics sector, and provide advanced and environmentally friendly means of transportation to serve pilgrims with ease.

The air taxi experiment is considered part of the initiatives of the transportation and logistics system, which seeks to achieve integration and development of services to ensure the provision of the best services to pilgrims during the Hajj season.
